Weekly team review

Replace the Monday meeting where everyone reconstructs their week from memory

The usual weekly meeting spends its first ten minutes on everyone trying to remember what they actually did. Donelane already has that record. The weekly review turns it into a short preparation step before the meeting and a single shared screen during it.

Part of the paid plan

The weekly review is on the paid plan. A team's owner turns it on in the team settings, where they also pick the meeting day and the time the reminder email goes out.

Preparing

Before the meeting, a member opens their own preparation page and sees the dones they posted that week (Monday to Sunday) alongside their open goals. They pick from those into the review — nothing is picked for them.

The review has five sections, each holding at most three items:

  • Achievements — dones from the week worth pointing at
  • Highlights — dones worth sharing with the team
  • Fails — what did not work; a done, or typed text for what was never a done, with an optional one-line note on why it mattered
  • Learnings — typed text for what the member knows now that they did not last week, with the same optional note
  • Goals — open goals the member is taking into next week

Private until submitted

Everything a member picks stays a private draft until they submit it. That is deliberate: a half-filled review a teammate could read at any point would turn preparation into a second thing to perform, and the meeting screen would show unfinished thinking nobody meant to share yet. Teammates only ever see who has prepared, never a draft's contents — the team feed shows how many members have submitted and their names, nothing more.

A submitted review can be withdrawn back to a draft. Withdrawing takes it off the meeting screen until the member submits it again.

The meeting

On the shared screen, the meeting view walks through every submitted review one member at a time, with Previous and Next to move between them. Only submitted reviews appear; a draft never reaches the meeting screen.

The reminder

The day before the meeting, members who have not yet submitted get one reminder email. It links straight to their own preparation page.
